"When I first came up with the opening riff it reminded me of a desert landscape. The original title of 'We Will Rise' was 'Desert Blues'. At the time we wrote this song Trump and Bolsonaro were in power. I was appalled by their obvious exploitation of the Amazon region, actively encouraging deforestation to open up the area to farming and mining. This short-term financial gain for a few people is at the cost of losing countless plant and animal species; and indigenous tribes too. Beyond this, losing great swathes of trees at a rate of 200,000 acres a day increases global warming and jepodizes the lives of people around the world. It's sad that some of those in power don't think about their children's future or the future of the planet. Lyrically I was inspired by these events but it's also a song about hope in the face of adversity, 'We Will Rise'" - Jude
