'Despised' was conceived on the same day as ‘Suffocating’. If I remember correctly I came up with the intro riff as I was waiting for a file to load in the studio.

I was really into the idea of keeping that 4 to the floor beat through the intro & verse. As has happened a few times through this process, the song then just evolved as a journey, never really repeating itself. Coming in at just over 2 and a half minutes long it felt like a short sharp shock

Lyrically, the song deals with the time when we were coming out of full lockdown but not really being given any real direction just guidelines and it just felt like we were just constantly being lied to.
